Port Louis November 08, 2021:
On the occasion of Mujib Year and the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh High Commission, Port Louis, Mauritius in collaboration with National Blood Transfusion of Mauritius has organized a voluntary blood donation program. The National Blood Transfusion of Mauritius collected blood on Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, Apravasi Ghat, Port Louis.
At the outset, H.E. the High Commissioner Mrs. Rezina Ahmed paid her deepest tribute to the greatest Bengali of the millennium, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and prayed for the salvation to his family members, martyred of the War of Liberation, freedom fighters, injured freedom fighters and two hundred thousand of women who lost their honor. She expressed her gratitude towards all participants of the blood donation program and said that blood has no substitute and it is a special gift from Bangladeshi expatriates’ donors to the Mauritian citizen. She stated that the High Commission would continue such philanthropic work and she hoped that the Bangladeshi expatriates would continue their cooperation and support in this regard.
Dr. Rampati, Regional Director of Health of Dr A. G. Jeetoo Hospital said that the blood donation program, organized by Bangladesh High Commission is a unique example. Expatriates are the part of our family and their spontaneous participation in the service of humanity is exemplary for all. He highly appreciated the program organized by the Bangladesh High Commission in Mauritius and he also donated blood in this auspicious occasion.
Such magnificent initiative of the Mission received spontaneous response from the expatriate Bangladeshis and the officials of the High Commission. The Mauritian and the expatriate Bangladeshis highly appreciated the initiative, taken by the Bangladesh High Commission on the auspicious occasion of Mujib Borsho and the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh. The event was executed maintaining the Covid-19 health protocol and restrictions on community activities of the host government. The High Commissioner Mrs. Ahmed and other guests donated blood. 58 bags of blood were collected at the ceremony. The program was attended by local people along with the expatriates who donated blood enthusiastically.
