A Croydon-based business owner has battled his serious personal illness to help take his company Stateside. George Meressa, owner of advertising agency Clear Ads, has overcome several challenges caused by his diagnosis of Colitis to (virtually) hop across the pond and share his wisdom with the people of the USA. Included on podcasts such as PPC Roundtable and The Professor’s Podcast, he’s now on a mission to impart his knowledge even further.
“I was diagnosed with Colitis during the end of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic,” said George. “This was pretty shocking news, which meant a lot of things had to change, both personally and in my business. I did what most people would do and cut down my time physically at work, but I was keen to use the extra time more wisely. I thought about what I could do from the comfort of my own home to help accelerate the growth of the business, something which didn’t require much energy to complete.
“Advertising went on its own journey during the pandemic, especially on Amazon – which Clear Ads specialises in. I wanted to make a mark within the industry and sought out avenues to help do just that.”
With podcasts on the rise, George found the best ones for him to get involved with. Taking matters into his own hands, he’s been able to appear on some of the most prolific shows within the advertising arena. At home in Croydon though, his business was going through its own transformation, with services in high demand during the pandemic. On just three days a week, thanks to the developments he made with the help of his business coach Jamie Goral, he’s still been able to grow the business – from half-a-million-pounds to over £1.2million.
