Aubameyang rounded off Arsenal’s opening day win over Fulham with a lovely curling effort
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has stolen ‘Thierry Henry’s trademark’ and will fire Arsenal to top four in the Premier League, says former striker
LT SPORTS::Keeping hold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will see Arsenal finish in the Premier League top four this season, talkSPORT has been told.
And Gunners fans have been told they have permission to ‘get carried away’ after their brilliant start to the new campaign.
Supporters are still waiting for official news of their star man’s new contract, but they heard encouraging words from manager Mikel Arteta after the striker marked the Gunners’ 2020/21 opener with a goal.
Aubameyang found the net in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Fulham with another fabulous finish, cutting in from the left wing and curling the ball into the far right corner of the net.
Former Premier League star Gabriel Agbonlahor saw shades of Thierry Henry in the Gabon international’s strike, and remarked that he has now taken the Highbury legend’s trademark as his own.
And he believes Arsenal have a great chance of ending their Champions League exile this season with Aubameyang’s future secure, as talkSPORT understands the striker has already agreed to a new bumper deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking on the Weekend Sports Breakfast, former Aston Villa captain Agbonlahor said: “When I saw Aubameyang’s goal I thought, ‘he’s going to whip it here’.
“He did it in the Community Shield too… I mean, Henry did it in every game for ten seasons for Arsenal, but it looks like that’s Aubameyang’s trademark now.
“It’s so important to get Aubameyang signed up; I don’t care if it’s £400,000-a-week, give him whatever he wants.
“Without him, Arsenal have got no chance of finishing in the top six, but with him I think they have a chance of finishing in the top four.
“I know Arsenal fans are going to get carried away but I feel like they should get carried away.
“Adding Willian – he was a star yesterday with three assists – with a couple more signings in the right positions and I think Arsenal can definitely break into the top-four.”
